This week MSU is holding Grandparent’s University. Grandparents University is an event organized by Alumni Relations that gives alumni and their grandchildren (8-12 yrs old) a chance to share their experiences with the next generation including spending a couple evenings in the residence halls and attending short classes that highlight the many strengths of MSU. Every summer weed scientist Dr. Karen Renner teaches one of these classes titled “Soil or Dirt: What do you call it?” In the class alumni and their grandchildren learn how soil functions as a filter in the environment and get hands-on experience exploring what forms of life inhabit the soil.
